Scenic Lead
As the organization that discovered the human genome, the Broad Institute is not afraid to tackle ambitious projects and the Discovery Center was quite ambitious from a fabrication standpoint. I was one of three lead fabricators and three lead installers responsible for a total of fourteen towers modeled after DNA. With compound curves made out of primarily aluminum and plastics and eye-catching graphics, the towers are a fantastic reflection of the work that the organization does. Every piece of the exhibit is made to be interchangeable. As we learn more, the display will be able to evolve with that knowledge.
The Broad Discovery Center is an active, public educational space that showcases how researchers in Kendall Square and around the world are seeking to understand and treat human disease. Visitors will learn how researchers at Broad and our partner institutions are teaming up with collaborators across the globe to chase down the basis of psychiatric conditions, cancer, infectious diseases, and more, develop new strategies for treatment, and build datasets and technologies to share with scientists everywhere.
